Chinese Single’s Day
Well, the Chinese Single’s Day (also known as Double 11) is celebrated on 11th November (11 day of the 11th month, hence the name Double 11 or 11.11). This is a festival of online shopaholics. In fact, 11.11 is a day of crazy online shopping in China!
This is the day when Chinese people spend too much of money for shopping online.
The word 剁手 (duò shǒu) is a new word to express the regret of overspending.
- 剁手 (duò shǒu): to chop off someone’s hand (because of overspending)
- 剁手党 (Duò shǒu dǎng): online shopaholics
- 剁手节 (duò shǒu jié): a day of crazy spending, such as Single’s Day
- 双十一 (Shuāng shíyī): Double 11 or 11.11
