How to Use Chinese Character 在 (zài)?

#1. 在…上 (on the topic of; about the topic)

Example Sentence 1

1. You’re so negligent on this matter.
2. Zài zhègewèntí shàng, nǐ tài dàyì le.
3. 在这个问题上, 你太大意了。

Example Sentence 2

1. With respect to the details of the contract, we need think over it.
2. Zài hétong xìjié shàng, wǒmen yào kǎolǜ yīxiàr.
3. 在合同细节上, 我们要考虑一下儿。

1. This plan sounds great in theory, but will it work?
2. Zhè ge fāng’àn zài lǐlùn shàng tīngqǐlái bùcuò, dàn xíngdetōng ma?

#2. 在…下 (under; with)

Example Sentence 4

1. I set up a company with my friends’ help.
2. Zài péngyǒu de bāngzhù xià, wǒ kāile yī jiā gōngsī.
3. 在朋友的帮助下, 我开了一家公司。
