“By the way”, often abbreviated as “BTW”, is a useful phrase for changing the main point of the discussion from one subject to the other. I often use “BTW” while interacting with my English speaking foreign friends. However, when I interact with my Chinese friends, I’ll use the Chinese equivalent of “BTW”.

How to say “BTW” in Chinese?
#1 BTW (…duìle…, …对了…)
Example sentence 1
- By the way, don’t forget to tell John to have meeting tomorrow afternoon.
- ò, duìle，bié wàng le gàosù John, míngtiān xiàwǔ kāihuì.
- 哦, 对了，别忘了告诉 John，明天下午开会。
Example sentence 2
- By the way, how was the movie yesterday?
- Duìlezuótiān de diànyǐng zěnmeyàng？
- 对了，昨天的电影怎么样？
#2 BTW (shùn biàn shuō yí xià…, 顺便说一下…)
- This is my idea. By the way, this project needs to be finished by the end of this year.
- Zhè shì wǒ de xiǎngfǎ，shùn biàn shuō yíxià，zhè ge xiàngmù xūyào niándǐ wánchéng。
