Tang Ping is an attitude of “doing nothing”, “not resisting”, and “not working hard”. In English, it would translate to staying “indifferent” or “cool”, irrespective of what others are doing or saying. In some instances, it might indicate that you are submissive.

In the case of marriage, Tang Ping may refer to a way of life that young people DO NOT buy a house, buy a car, get married, have children, do not consume too much, maintain a simple standard of living, etc. Basically, just don’t participate in the rat race.
