Lesson 3: Expressions for Making Appointments in Chinese

Welcome to Lesson 3 (Level 2) of Ming Mandarin’s free online Mandarin Chinese lessons. In this lesson, we’ll learn making appointments in Chinese.

Appointment Plans

1. Appointment (约定, yuēdìng)
2. Date (约会, yuēhuì)
3. Have you got any plans for this weekend? (你这周末有安排吗, Nǐ zhè zhōumò yǒu ānpái ma)
4. Not yet (还没有呢, Hái méiyǒu ne)
5. Do you want to go somewhere at the weekend? (你周末想不想去什么地方, Nǐ zhōumò xiǎnɡ bu xiǎnɡ qù shénme dìfɑnɡ)
6. Are you free tomorrow evening? (你明天晚上有空吗, Nǐ mínɡtiān wǎnshɑnɡ yǒu kònɡ ma)
7. Sorry, I have plans (Bù hǎo yìsi, wǒ yǒu ānpái le, 不好意思，我有安排了)
8. What would you like to do this evening (你今晚想做什么, Nǐ jīnwǎn xiǎnɡ zuò shénme)
9. I want to stay at home (Wǒ xiǎnɡ dāi zài jiāli, 我想待在家里)
10. Let’s have a barbecue together (我们一起去吃烧烤吧, Wǒmen yīqǐ qù chī shāokǎo ba)
11. I’d like to have Spanish food. Do you have a recommendation (我想吃西班牙菜，你有推荐的吗, Wǒ xiǎnɡ chī Xībānyá cài，nǐ yǒu tuījiànde ma)
12. Do you want to go out tomorrow night? (你明晚想出去吗, Nǐ mínɡwǎn xiǎnɡ chūqu ma)
13. Sure! Where are we going (好啊！去哪里, Hǎo a! Qù nǎli)
14. I heard that a new Turkish restaurant has opened in Zhujiang New Town. Let’s have a try! (听说珠江新城开了一家新的土耳其餐厅，我们去试试吧, īnɡshuō Zhūjiānɡ Xīnchénɡ kāile yī jiā xīnde Tǔ’ěrqí cāntīnɡ, wǒmen qù shìshì ba!)

Appointment Time: When To Meet?

1. How to fix a meet up time? (如何约定见面时间, Rúhé yuēdìng jiànmiàn shíjiān)
2. What time shall we meet? (我们几点碰面/见面, Wǒmen jǐ diǎn pènɡmiàn/jiànmiàn)
3. When can we meet? (我们什么时候可以见面, wŏmen shénme shíhou kĕyĭ jiànmiàn)
4. What’s a good time for you? (什么时间对你最好shénme shíjiān duì nĭ zuì hăo)
5. Let’s meet after dinner (我们晚饭后见, wŏmen wănfàn hòu jiàn)
6. I am available this afternoon (我今天下午有时间, wŏ jīntiān xiàwŭ yŏu shíjiān)
7. Let’s meet at 2pm (我们下午两点见吧, Wǒ men xiàwǔ liǎnɡdiǎn jiàn bɑ)

Appointment Venue: Where To Meet?

1. Where shall we meet? (我们在哪里见面, Wǒmen zài nǎli jiànmiàn)
2. Where would you like to meet? (你想在什么地方碰面, Nǐ xiǎnɡ zài shénme dìfɑnɡ pènɡmiàn)
3. Let’s meet outside the subway station (我们在地铁站外面见吧, Wǒmen zài dìtiězhàn wàimian jiàn ba)
4. Let’s meet at the cinema at ten (我们十点在电影院见, Wǒmen shí diǎn zài diànyǐnɡyuàn jiàn)
5. See you at the bar. (在酒吧门口见吧, Zài jiǔbā ménkǒu jiàn bɑ)
6. Ok, see you there (好，到时见。Hǎo, dào shí jiàn)
